In 1970, Nussbaum was working as a typist and workplace clerk in Boston. The work was repeated, unappreciated and terribly paid, with no chances for improvement. But it was what many females did. Secretaries “were like the wallpaper, they barely existed to many people, no-one even provided a reservation,” states Nussbaum.
